MSF South Africa is one of the youngest, and therefore one of the most dynamic, addition to the MSF International network. Not only did MSF carry out HIV programs as early as 2000 in South Africa, but the potential of South Africa as a contributor to MSF was acknowledge with the opening of the section in 2007. MSF South Africa recruits medical staff and other professionals to work in MSF projects around the world. They share information with the South African public, the media, government agencies, and other non-governmental organizations to raise awareness about the plight of those people MSF assist. MSF South Africa also supports MSF programs in the region by providing medical expertise, including specific medical training for MSF field staff. More information is available on their website.
In 2009, Woodseer Management Consulting was called in to work with this new section on their annual plan and facilitate a series of workshop with the management as one of the first step of this planning process process.
